Lace, with its quiet strength and delicacy, has long inspired my artistic language. I often work with silver and antique wood, transforming cold metals into lace-like forms and blending them with aged materials to create harmony between contrasts.

I am drawn to the invisible worlds within the traces that time leaves behind—on railroad ties, old liquor pots, or worn tea tables. These objects, softened by age, become my collaborators. With care, I mend their timeworn wounds using silver, which becomes both a symbol of reverence and a mark of creative rebirth.

This impulse extends to other works: ants tracing paths of life, sculpture holding spatial after images—each capturing a moment, a memory, a trace. My sculptures exist between craft and sculpture, offering gentle moments of reflection and restoration in a fast-paced world.

오랜 시간의 흔적을 가진 사물들—침목, 옛 주전자, 다기 같은 나무 도구들—에 매료됩니다. 형태를 잃어가는 이 물건들은 세월의 기억을 품고 있고, 마치 상처를 보듬듯 그것들을 정성스럽게 수선합니다. 그 틈을 메우는 '실버'(은)는 존중의 표시이자 창조의 기쁨이기도 합니다.

이런 예술적 충동은 다른 작업에도 이어집니다—삶의 궤적을 남기는 개미, 공간의 잔상을 간직한 조각등, 저마다 하나의 '흔적'을 담고 있습니다. 이수미 작가의 조각은 공예와 예술 사이에서, 바쁜 일상에 지친 이들에게 조용한 회복과 성찰의 순간을 전하고자 합니다.
