Marching from the North

Marching from the North was exhibited at PBG Hannam in 2023. In many cultures, ants coming from the north are seen as signs of luck—symbolizing happiness and peace. For the artist, the ant is a symbol of self, reflecting a life of optimism and perseverance. This philosophy continues through the three series: Flow, Edge, and Half.

Marching from the North는 2023년 PBG 한남에서 전시되었다. 북쪽에서 오는 개미는 행운과 평화를 상징하며, 작가가 담은 긍정의 메시지를 보완한다. 개미는 작가 자신을 대변하는 상징으로, 긍정과 인내의 삶을 반영한다. 이러한 철학은 시리즈 Flow, Edge, Half 로 이어진다.

Edge Series

In the EDGE series, metal is met with warmth. Though cold in nature, metal’s origin in great stones is honored as it’s paired with rounded stone forms. The delicate harmony between hard edges and soft curves creates a sense of precarious stability.

EDGE 시리즈는 금속을 따뜻한 시선으로 바라본다. 자연의 거대한 암석에서 시작된 금속은 돌과 함께 배치되며, 각과 곡선의 조화 속에서 아슬아슬한 안정감이 드러난다.

Flow Series

In FLOW, ants, chairs, and human forms are drawn into space—freely, like air. The artist believes posture reveals essence, carving lines that feel alive. Ants symbolize peace and altruism, gently touching viewers through flowing, open-ended shapes.

FLOW 시리즈는 개미, 의자, 사람의 형상을 자유롭게 드로잉하듯 조각한다. 작가는 자세와 표정이 본질을 드러낸다고 믿으며 선을 공중에 그리듯 표현한다. 이타성과 평화를 상징하는 개미는 따뜻한 손길처럼 감상자에게 다가간다.

Half Series

The HALF series explores wholeness through division. Halved forms—stands, animals, hemispheres—are completed with mirrors, forming unity.Here, “half” is not a lack but a creative force—each piece a key to deeper meaning.

HALF 시리즈는 나뉜 형태를 통해 완전함을 탐구한다. 스탠드와 동물, 반구 형태는 거울과 결합되어 하나가 된다.절반은 결핍이 아니라 창작의 힘이며, 본질에 이르는 퍼즐 조각이다.
